Bamford wants improvement
Port Magpies coach Tony Bamford says he has not had to stress the importance of ending the season on a good note in his team's final match of the season against North Adelaide, at Alberton, on Saturday.
The Magpies take a 4-15 record into the clash and can not improve or drop on their current ladder position (eighth).
Bamford said stressing the importance of ending the season on a winning note was not important and he was more concerned with his side continuing to improve in key areas.
Support swoops in for Magpies
Port Magpies supporters have come to the club’s financial rescue, pledging more than $250,000 within a week of the SANFL rejecting an emergency loan this month.
President John Firth said eight members and supporters had put their faith in the club by agreeing to six-month, unsecured loans, totalling more than the $230,000 sought from the league.
“In the short-term it means we can pay all players, coaches, and support staff at the end of the season,” he said.

De Pasquale's Persistence Pays
Had Port Adelaide Magpies veteran Kristian de Pasquale heeded medical advice, his SANFL career would have ended over summer.
After doing serious cartilage damage to his right knee in his 100th League game, in July last year, de Pasquale's surgeon and physiotherapist told him to "cut his losses" to save himself long-term pain.
